Logo Variations
Logo variations are essential for creating a dynamic brand. Having alternative logos, submarks and brand marks allow you to adapt your branding to fit different platforms and brand collateral.
I usually include 3 logo variations in my branding packages:
Primary Logo
The primary logo is usually the face of your brand. This is your main logo which is used most frequently and is often the most detailed. You can use your primary logo across all your branding assets including your website, business stationery and social media.
Secondary Logo
The secondary logo is usually quite similar to your primary logo. It can be a simplified version (e.g. with a tagline removed) or perhaps a wider version of your primary logo. With different platforms and areas where your logo may need to be placed it's useful to have a squarer logo version and a longer logo version.
Icon or Submark
Icons or submarks are simplified versions of your logo. They can be used as favicons, app icons and often work well as profile pictures on social media!
